Different Branches of Physics

Broadly speaking, a student who enrolls for physics tuition Singapore studies about matter and energy, and their different properties which impact the rest and motion of objects around us. But for someone who is ready to take up Physics as a specialized subject, there are several branches that can be individually studies, and each branch requires a lot of rigorous study. Let us look at some of the most popular branches of Physics.

The earliest formal outlines of Physics were provided by the great physicists like Sir Isaac Newton and James Maxwell. These theories and principals were referred to as Classical Physics, and mostly dealt with energy (both kinematic and potential) and heat transfer (thermodynamics). Within the overall bounds of classical physics, there were also sub-topics like optics, mechanics, electromagnetics etc.

Einstein and Plank were instrumental in developing the next upgrade in theoretical thinking about Physics, which came to be called Modern Physics. It mainly dealt with relativity and quantum mechanics. Two of the biggest theoretical structures – Einstein’s Theory of Relativity and Plank’s Quantum Theory – were developed as part of this branch of Physics. Ask any student of jc Physics tuition and he or she will tell you that this branch of Physics is the most difficult to master.

Mechanical movements of bodies also came to be studied under a separate branch of Physics called Mechanical Physics. It tried to understand the motion of physical bodies when acted upon by external forces.

The study of the interior of the earth is referred to as Geophysics. The forces studied as part of this discipline are earthquakes, magnetic fields, gravitational forces etc. The detailed study of these forces help in predicting natural disasters, ocean movements, and other natural phenomenon.

Around the middle of the 20th century, another branch of Physics began to be seriously studied – Nuclear Physics. It went deep inside the physical structure of an atom, and tried to harness the power of its nucleus. Today, nuclear power is not only a potential source of great destruction, but also being harnessed for several positive things like medicine, agriculture and power generation.

Depending on the subject you wish to pursue you can select the right physics tutor in Singapore who could either provide specialized knowledge about any field or be a generalist covering all the above topics.
